LOVELAND, Colo. – The Colorado Governor’s Art Show & Sale, one of the largest juried fine art shows to exclusively feature Colorado artists, has revealed Rosetta will be honored as the Legacy Artist during the 34th annual exhibit. This distinction is given to artists who have participated in past years of the Colorado Governor’s Art Show & Sale and have been strong advocates for the arts. Rosetta, a Loveland-based sculptor, is one of 61 Colorado artists selected to participate in this year’s show. The exhibit will be held at the Loveland Museum from Saturday, May 3 through Saturday, June 14, 2025 with fine art sales available in-person and online.
Though drawn to modeling in clay at a very young age, Rosetta’s formal art training was in commercial art, culminating at the Art Center College of Design in Los Angeles. Once established in a successful graphic design career, the urge to pursue her love of creating in three dimensions resurfaced and led her to become a full-time sculptor.
Rosetta’s subjects are animals, another childhood passion. “Animals have always held a special place in my heart, from a childhood where stuffed animals and animal figurines took the place of dolls,” Rosetta explained.
“My sculptures depict the life force of the animal, in all of its visual splendor, rather than a realistic depiction of outward appearances,” Rosetta continued. “Although I keep the animal’s basic form true to reality, it is my interpretation of that form, motion, and inner spirit that is my art. Though I work directly in clay without preliminary drawings, I use line, released from two dimensions into three, to express the beauty, grace and power I see in the animal form. I call this ‘Interpretive Realism.’”
Rosetta has exhibited extensively both nationally and internationally and has completed corporate, public and private commissions. Some of her noted commissions and public placements include the Lincoln Park Zoo in Chicago; Leigh Yawkey Woodson Art Museum in WisconsinI; MGM Grand Hotel in Las Vegas; Hewlett-Packard in Colorado; Florida Institute of Technology; Chapman University in California; DTC Meridian in Denver; radio station KOXE in Texas; The Shops at Walnut Creek in Westminster, Colo.; ArtWorks in Dubai; and the cities of Loveland, Colo.; Lakewood, Colo.; Steamboat Springs, Colo.; and Dowagiac, Mich.
A Fellow of the National Sculpture Society and member of the Society of Animal Artists, American Women Artists, and Artists for Conservation, Rosetta has won awards from these organizations as well as from the Western Rendezvous of Art, Allied Artists of America, Bennington Center for the Arts, Pen & Brush, Inc., the Bosque Conservatory Art Council, and the Steamboat Springs Art Council, among others.
The Governor’s Art Show includes sculpture, mixed media, oil, pastel, watercolor, and acrylic paintings from participating artists. Fifteen new artists will join the show this year, and several artists have returned after numerous years. The 2025 show will feature four different works of art from each artist at the Loveland Museum. The majority of the artwork in this year’s show is one-of-a-kind and will be available for purchase throughout the run of the Governor’s Art Show & Sale both online and in-person from Saturday, May 3 through Saturday, June 14, 2025.
