Inaugural C.A.S.T. For Kids Fishing Event for Kids With Special Needs Coming to Chatfield Reservoir on Saturday, July 29, 2023
DENVER — C.A.S.T. (“Catch A Special Thrill”) for Kids Chatfield Reservoir today announced that the Daniels Bros. Memorial Fund will be its Local Hero sponsor. The inaugural free boating and fishing event for children with special needs in Littleton will be held on Saturday, July 29, 2023 from 7 a.m. to 1 p.m. The event is open to all children, ages six through 18, no matter their disability. Participants must pre-register online at castforkids.org/event/chatfieldreservoir, the space is limited to the first 40 children who register.
The Daniels Bros. Memorial Fund was established in celebration of Timothy Charles and Matthew Scott Daniels, brothers who were raised in Arvada, Colo. and graduated from Pomona High School. After high school, Matt worked in the construction industry while pursuing his dream of becoming a professional fisherman/guide and Tim earned a bachelor’s degree in marketing from Colorado State University. God called Matt in 2005 and the Daniels family started an annual golf tournament to raise funds for a scholarship in his name. When God called Tim in 2012, the tournament continued but was renamed the Daniels Bros. Memorial. Each year this fund is used to fund various 501(c)3 events in honor of the Daniels boys.
“C.A.S.T. for Kids Chatfield Reservoir wouldn’t be happening without the generosity and support of the Daniels Bros. Memorial Fund,” said Chris Ellis, C.A.S.T. for Kids Chatfield Reservoir with Daniels Bros. Memorial Fund presented by Pacific Seafood event coordinator. “We are honored to have this opportunity to put on an event celebrating the joy of fishing with kids with special needs and their families in celebration of Matt and Tim Daniels.”
The C.A.S.T. for Kids Foundation enriches the lives of children with special needs, supports their families, and strengthens communities through the sport of fishing. The national nonprofit empowers families and communities to celebrate children with special needs, making these children feel valued and loved so they can overcome limitations and be successful. In 2023, the Foundation will hold more than 95 events in 31 states. C.A.S.T. for Kids Horsetooth Reservoir presented by Pacific Seafood was held in Fort Collins, Colo. on June 3, 2023. You can view a complete national schedule of events at castforkids.org.
At each event, participants receive a free fishing pole, tackle box, event t-shirt, cap, award plaque, and lunch. A morning of fishing will be followed by a picnic lunch for all and awards ceremony for the kids. Volunteer boaters will be taking the kids boating. Each child must be accompanied by a parent or guardian on the boat. If boat space allows, additional siblings and family members may be able to go boating as well. However, only participants and one parent or guardian are guaranteed to go boating at the event.
